2019 Honda Passport is Your Passport to Safety

By Justin Cupler | October 8th, 2019

The 2019 Honda Passport arrived to plenty of fanfare, as buyers love its sleek design and more rugged attitude. The IIHS recently completed safety testing the 2019 Passport, and fans now have another reason to love it, safety.

In IIHS testing, the 2019 Honda Passport received “Good” crash-safety scores in five of six tests. Its only hiccup was an “Acceptable” rating in the small-overlap-front test on the passenger’s side. In the tough-to-pass headlight test, the Passport pulled out an “Acceptable” score in models built after July 2019. Any Passport ’s built before this time didn’t qualify due to “Poor” headlight ratings.

The 2019 Passport also earned a ”Superior” rating in the front-crash-prevention test as its standard automatic emergency braking system avoided a front-end collision at speeds up to 25 mph. This was the final requirement the Passport needed to earn its spot as an IIHS Top Safety Pick with Honda sensing and specific headlights, which makes it the eighth 2019 Honda model to be a Top Safety Pick or higher.

The 2019 Passport also boasts standard Honda Sensing, which includes forward-collision warning, road-departure mitigation, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, and adaptive cruise control
