2020 Porsche 911 Now Allows You to Row Your Own

By Justin Cupler | November 13th, 2019

When Porsche revealed the all-new 2020 911, it left the manual transmission off its options list, as its eight-speed dual-clutch unit was more than enough transmission for most sports car lovers. Traditionalists throughout the Rochester area and across the nation have clamored for its return. Porsche has decided to shift gears on this topic and will offer a row-you-own option on select 2020 911 models.

Buyers who pick up a 2020 Porsche 911 Carrera S and 911 Carrera 4S can opt for a seven-speed manual gearbox at no extra cost. As an added bonus, the manual transmission option will also include the Sport Chrono Package, which is a $2,720 upgrade with the standard PDK transmission and includes Dynamic Drivetrain Mounts, PSM Sport Mode, rev-matching, and a mode switch on the steering wheel. The latter allows the driver to pick Normal, Sport, Sport Plus, and Individual modes.

This setup also includes a mechanical limited-slip rear differential and Porsche Torque Vectoring.

With this DIY gearbox, the 2020 Porsche Carrera S will launch to 60 mph in four seconds and top out at over 190 mph. It will set you back as little as $113,300 in the Carrera S flavor to as much as $133,400 in the Carrera 4S Cabriolet, not including the $1,350 delivery, processing, and handling fees.

The 2020 Carrera S with the manual gearbox is available for order now, but it will not arrive until the spring of 2020.
