Luxury and Safety Define the 2019 Acura RDX

By Emily Eppley | August 29th, 2018

The IIHS came back with safety ratings for the latest vehicles, and the 2019 Acura RDX earned the Top Safety Pick+ rating thanks to its “Good” or “Superior” rating in all testable categories. The all-new RDX excelled in front crash prevention with a superior rating thanks to the standard AcuraWatch active safety technology that alerts drivers of potential obstacles on the road and activates the brakes if needed. It is significant that a redesigned vehicle earned the top rating in its first year and speaks to Acura’s dedication to safety for all drivers.

“The 2019 Acura RDX offers the highest level of standard safety and driver-assistance features in its class, so earning class-leading safety ratings is a strong proof point of the technology and design innovation we’re bringing to the game,” said Jon Ikeda, Acura vice president and general manager.

This updated model went on sale June 1 with high-strength steel door-stiffener rings and additional airbags, like the new driver and front-passenger knee airbags. The AcuraWatch suite of safety features includes a collision-mitigation braking system, adaptive cruise control, and road-departure mitigation all standard on the RDX for the first time.
